Four years of building products that real people use — including the e-commerce platform behind the largest computer hardware retailer in Egypt.
Most engineers hand off at a boundary — design to frontend, frontend to API, API to deploy. I'd rather hold the whole thread. At Startup Confidential I owned both the frontend and the backend architecture of a social platform, then built its React Native companion app. I write the Next.js interface and the Go service it talks to, then containerize both and put them on a Linux box.
I started freelancing in 2022 while studying computer science, and I still keep my own product running: Qarenly, a search engine over product listings pulled from stores across Egypt.

Selected work
The e-commerce platform for the largest computer hardware retailer in Egypt — product catalogs, browsing, and online purchasing at retail traffic. A modular React architecture with client-side rendering tuned so moving between products doesn't wait on the network.
My own product, not client work: a price-comparison site that pulls product listings from stores across Egypt and puts a search engine on top of them. Aggregation, indexing, and interface — end to end, by me.
Built alone: a paginated content feed, a user-following system, and real-time UI interactions on the web, plus a companion mobile app. I owned the frontend and the backend architecture.
Experiments, open source, and the older work that taught me the expensive lessons.
Experience
Internal admin dashboards and customer-facing platforms in React, Next.js, React Query, TailwindCSS, and Zod. Turned complex Figma designs into responsive production interfaces on Ant Design, Material UI, and Chakra UI, and cut redundant data fetching with caching and deduplication.
Independently built a social media platform on Next.js, Vite, React Query, TailwindCSS, and Zod — paginated feed, following system, real-time UI — plus a companion mobile app in React Native and Expo. Owned both the frontend and the backend architecture.
Modernized a legacy frontend architecture with caching and deduplication, reducing API calls by 30%. Built responsive internal dashboards with real-time statistics for government clients, led frontend development, and enforced clean architecture patterns across the team.
Started freelancing while studying computer science. This is where the Iknology work began, before it became a contract role.
